Successful North Channel Race Week debut through some of the finest cruising waters in the world

North Channel Race Week Results

The five-day race series started at Hilton Beach on St Joseph Island, took sailors through the North Channel to various ports, ending in Little Current on Manitoulin Island.  It was a spectacular week of sailing for participants who took to the water in a wide variety of sizes, styles and classes.

Sailors faced different challenges for each of the five stages.  In fact the second day – July 22 – the end of the race was changed from Thessalon to Tolsma Bay on Cockburn Island because of incoming weather.  Four boats at the back of the fleet were forced to take down their sails and motor in.

In the end Skyship, a 32-foot C&C design from Sault Ste. Marie took first place by six minutes over corrected time.  Natural High was second and Blue Teal third.  Natural High is a 33-foot Abbott design and Blue Teal is a 37-foot C&C.  Both boats are from the Hilton Beach Yacht Club.
