This is it - September 15!
All boaters across Canada need PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operator Cards) as of today. The millions who have not yet passed the test face a hefty fine next time they go out on the water.
The fine for operating a boat without a PCOC is $250.
Now, OK, you’ve decided to put the boat away and not go on the water again until May. Well the way things are shaping up in southern Ontario, you’re missing the best boating weather of the summer. Plus, if you forget about the PCOC next Spring, that $250 fine is no way to start a new boating season.
Some have said that answering the 36 questions is too easy. While the test may not be as comprehensive as it might, it still indicates that the boater has some working knowledge of how to operate a boat. We have all seen people on the water who apparently have no idea whatsoever.
You can take the test on line by clicking the BoaterExam.com banner on our home page. They’ll let you study on line and if you don’t get it the first time, you can try again until you do without paying again. You pay only once. And won’t have to pay a fine once you have the card.
If you’re one of the 6.5 million… save yourself some money. Click. Study. Write. And be legal. Now.
