Lock 13 - Campbellford

The lock is about a mile upstream from the town itself… which makes it a quieter place for an overnight stay.  You’ll find picnic tables above and below the lock and the parkland is nicely treed.  There are washrooms here, but no other facilities.  If you need to pick up something or feel like some exercise, the walk back to town will stretch the kinks out of your legs.  On sunny days, watch for turtles soaking up the warmth along the banks.  The fishing can be quite successful here - particularly in the faster water below the dam.  And where there are fish, there are often osprey and you may be competing with these magnificent birds as you try to catch dinner!
