Entering the US from Canada by pleasure craft

Boaters must report to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the time of arrival in port.  No one can leave the boat until CBP has cleared the vessel or given permission.  The only exception is the boat’s captain, if it is necessary to leave the boat to report arrival to CBP.  The captain must return to the boat immediately after reporting.

When calling in, have the following information available:

Name, date of birth, citizenship and passport numbers of all persons on board

Name of boat and/or boat registration number

CBP user fee decal number (for vessels more than 30 feet in length)

Homeport and current location

Return contact number
